HEar their Story

Every prostate cancer journey is unique. Through these personal stories, men share their experiences of diagnosis, treatment, recovery, and life beyond prostate cancer.

Their firsthand accounts provide insight into the challenges they have faced, the lessons they have learned, and the importance of early detection and regular health checks. Whether you have been diagnosed yourself, are supporting a loved one, or simply want to learn more, these stories offer understanding, encouragement, and hope.

We thank each of these men for sharing their journey and helping to raise awareness, break down stigma, and inspire others to take charge of their health.

Lionel Moore

Eighteen years ago, Lionel was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer. Within six days of receiving the news, he began an intensive treatment journey that included a prostatectomy, chemotherapy and 36 rounds of radiation therapy.

Lionel knows that without that blood test, he wouldn’t be here today and encourages other men to know their number.

Wayne Beeston

Wayne began having regular PSA tests from age 50. Like many men, he felt fine and had no symptoms until a routine check showed a gradual rise in his PSA levels. His doctor recommended further investigation, which led to his diagnosis.

His story is a powerful reminder that prostate cancer often develops silently without obvious symptoms. Early detection gave Wayne options, time, and a clear path forward, something he now strongly encourages every man to prioritise.

Rodney Bryd

Because of his father’s diagnosis, Rodney was encouraged to begin regular PSA testing from the age of 40. He saw it as second nature, or just another routine health check and thought nothing of it, until reality hit when his PSA levels spiked.

Family history is a key risk factor. Men with a father or brother who has had prostate cancer are more than twice as likely to be diagnosed themselves, making early testing even more important.
